About Oregon Family Law:
“Family law” encompasses much more than just divorce proceedings. Families come in a variety of forms, and it is our goal to listen to your unique needs and provide advice and advocacy accordingly. Our lawyers provide legal advice on many family law matters, including prenuptial agreements, grandparents’ rights, divorce, child custody, parenting time (visitation) rights, guardianships or minors or the elderly, step-parent adoption, and child and spousal support.
How Our Firm Assists You With Divorce:
We understand that your divorce (or other family law matter) is the most pressing and important aspect of your life at this moment. With that in mind, we strive to meet each client’s needs in a personal, respectful, and caring manner. It is our policy to keep our clients informed of all developments and respond promptly to phone calls or e-mails. Through the pendency of the case, clients deal directly with the assigned lawyer, rather than legal assistants or associates. Because we treat our clients as part of the team, each client always knows the status of his or her case and can make informed decisions as the divorce progresses.
Family law is not a one-size-fits-all area of practice and every divorce, custody dispute, or support case is very fact-specific. Each case brings its own unique emotional and financial concerns. Questions arise in all stages of the process. Our clients know they can contact us and we will devote the time needed to answer questions and provide guidance througout the sometimes lengthy process. We are careful to listen to a client to learn his or her desired outcome, and then provide thoughtful advice regarding the accomplishment of that goal.
Divorces involving children and spouses seeking support can be very emotionally and financially draining. While our firm provides strong and aggressive litigation tactics when necessary, we also seek out-of-court solutions to limit the impact on families. Divorce does not have to be a battle. Whether your case requires litigation or can be resolved through mediation and settlement negotiations, we can help guide you through the process. (add PDF of divorce options)
What to Expect in a Legal Consultation:
As a service to clients, we meet with all potential clients together for the first consultation. This allows us to determine which lawyer is best-suited for any given case, based on the subject matter and the client’s personality. In addition to the client getting two-for-the-price-of-one, this allows both lawyers to meet potential clients and hear the background of each case. Although ultimately only one lawyer will handle the case, the other will then know the basics of each case and can answer questions when a client calls. We offer this initial consultation for a flat-fee of $100.00.
When starting the process for finding a lawyer, potential clients often ask "who is the best divorce lawyer in Oregon or the best divorce lawyer in Portland?" The answer is: "the lawyer who gets the results you need." Like the rest of family law, there is not one-size-fits-all when it comes to selecting an attorney. The best lawyer is the one who listens to your circumstances, provides solid legal advice, and facilitates and achieves your goals.
